~A few hours earlier~
Breeze hummed a song as she walked through the forest, the basket in her right hand was full of berries and the other hand had purple, plue, and pink flowers in it. The sky was a magnificent blue with a pink strip on the horizon. She breathed in the cents of her surroundings. As she rounded a bend a gust of wind swept her blond loose hair to the side. The wind pulled and pushed at her dress.
“Well hello there! What do you need?” The wind settled and took shape, A girl about the same age as Breeze, who was sixteen, with a long white dress that faded into nothing and her hair was silver with white strands. Her skin was pale and had a warm tent to it, making a beautiful complexion. Her eyes were almost as if they were made out of shards of diamond. They didn't have a particular color, just diamond like. She smiled and nodded at Breeze.
“Breeze, there's someone who needs our help. One of your kind, you know, actually your kind.” The wind took Breeze's hand. Breeze smiled and thought about who it could be. My kind! I wonder why he or she needs our help… the wind melted into her normal form. Breeze fell limp as the wind swept her up. She giggled, she always had loved to ride the wind. Since she was a little girl she had had a special bond with it. No one she knew had such powers. She also had the ability to turn invisible and could shape shift. She had not quite mastered her abilities, and still needed a lot of practice.
The terrain passed before her eyes. The snow capped mountains in the east and the coast in the west. Beyond the mountains Breeze knew there were rolling hills and flat valleys full of soft grass. And beyond the hills and valleys there was a great strong hold on a very large hill that overlooked the island on which Breeze lived. Then there was the ocean. And if you go far enough out the ocean will end. And there will be nothing but energy, waves and waves of energy. Then you will come upon another island, about the size of the one that she lived on. There were four islands that made up her planet. Three large and one very small. On the small one lived the royal family. And on the three larger ones is where the people of Core 3000 lived.
The king sent out three sets of lords and ladies to oversee the three larger islands. Then every year they would report back to the king and queen, unless there was an emergency of course. Breeze smiled at the thought of the geography of her planet. She loved geography and was very smart when it came to that subject. Her eyes scanned the ground as the wind came nearer to it. Finally her feet touched solid ground and the wind took shape again.
“Over here.” The wind motioned to a small patch of grass. As Breeze walked nearer, she saw that a boy, about her age, was lying there, his eyes were shut and his rist was black and blue. He looked like he had taken a few blows to the head and he was obviously not in a good state. She gasped and rushed over to him. I wonder what happened! He’s cute, other than that nasty bruise on his cheek bone.
“What happened? Do you know?” Breeze looked up at the wind and then back down at the boy.
“Actually I do,” the wind smiled her soft smile and continued, “I was minding my own business and I heard a cry. I thought I should check it out and I found them.”
“Them? What do you mean by them?” Breeze cocked her eyebrows into a confused expression.
“There were two. This boy and a girl. She was the one who bruised his wrist. She dragged him a very long way and then I decided to interfere. I think I scared her. She ran off into the woods the way she had come. I brought him here to this patch of grass. He started to come into consciencessness and he obviously was in pain so I put him down. I thought maybe you could help me help him.”
“Oh...well what do you need me to-” Breeze stopped mid sentence and gasped softly when the boy rolled over and moaned. She glanced at the wind and then looked back at the boy. His eyes were open but he looked foggy.
“M-Maggie? Wha-what's going on?” His hand flew up to the bruise on his forehead and he scrunched up his face in agony.
“No, no i'm not Maggie. Do you remember anything?” Breeze didn't want to pummel the young man with questions but she at least had to know if his head was alright.
“Breeze.” The wind was tapping Breeze ever so softly on the shoulder. Breeze turned around and looked at the wind. “Breeze, I think we should get back to your house where he, and us, are safe… Look.” The wind motioned to a patch of bushes. There was a small girl, but she looked to be about fourteen or fifteen despite her small size. She froze when she realized they had seen her. “Breeze, turn into a pegasus. Now.” There was a warning in the winds voice
“But why now?”
“Are you questioning me?”
“Well, no… Fine. Yes.”
“Just turn.”
“Okay I’m turning!” Breeze imagined the pegasus and then in an instant, she was one.
“Here,” The wind had changed into her normal form and she was holding the boy, who had slipped back into unconsciousness, In her windy grasp. She put the young man on top of Breezes back and then turned back into her being form. She jumped onto Breeze and yelled, “Go!” And they were off. The small girl down below was yelling and cursing and saying something about the Man-In-Black. Though Breeze was too far off before she could hear exactly what the girl was saying.
“So, why did we have to leave so soon?” Breeze asked the wind.
“That girl was the one who did this to Thrist.” The wind had a fearful tone in her voice.
“Thrist?” The wind smiled and nodded, pointing at the boy. The rest of the trip Breeze and the wind did not talk. The wind was thinking of things concerning nature and things like that. But Breeze was thinking about the young, handsome man that she had just helped rescue. Or kidnap. But it seemed as if the boy was not friends with the people who had hurt him. And he was handsome!
Breeze's thoughts went on and on like this for quite some time. Finally her little cottage came into view. It was on a beautiful hill with a little brook next to it and a pasture. Next to the pasture was a shack in which they kept a milking cow and the four horses and a small row boat. But Breeze has never gotten a good look at the boat because her aunt never let her. She said it belonged to her father, whom Breeze has never met, and that she must never look at it. After a few more minutes of flying, they finally landed in a small grove of trees.
“How are we going to get him inside?” Breeze wondered out loud.
“You come up with that. But before I go, you need to know something. I have sent a bird to see were he lives. And it’s completely destroyed. Everyones dead. The house was rampaged after he left. And there’s one more important thing you need to know. The Man-In-Black is after him.
Wow Myla, this is really, really great!! I can't wait to read the next chapter!
